The men and women of Estero Fire & Rescue invite you, your neighbors and friends to be their guests and join them as they celebrate 50 years of service to the community. Estero Fire Rescue will be hosting an open house on Saturday, February 1, 2014 beginning at 10:00 am and running until 2:00 pm. The event will be held at our administration offices located at 21500 Three Oaks Parkway, Estero, FL 33928. Firefighters will be cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs and, of course, their award winning chili! A bounce house will be on site as well as performances by the Guns n Hoses Pipes n Drums of Southwest Florida. A demonstration of vehicle extrication equipment along with displays and a special presentation by FGCU art students. Ember the fire department Dalmatian will be on hand to welcome guests. Open Me and See The Official Invitation The brave members of the Estero Fire & Rescue District, led by Fire Chief Scott Vanderbrook. put their lives on the line 24/7, 365 days a year. Always ready to rush into a burning building, or cut a victim out of a tangled car wreck. ... for the rest of the story They will assist residents with changing batteries in smoke detectors that are unreachable. They’re planning an open house in February to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Flu shots are still available.
They have 30 paramedics, with two paramedics on each of the vehicles. All 911 calls go to the sheriff’s dept. If the call relates to fire or medical, then it goes to the Lee County Public Safety 911 center. They dispatch all fire departments and EMS for the entire county. The county computer system picks the closest fire unit and sends it to your call; boundaries are not a consideration. Every one of the fire trucks has a computer in it, similar to the GPS, which gives the shortest route to the caller’s address. They also have an emergency vehicle access control device that allows them to get into communities by opening the gates without the blaring of sirens. |
